Sketch I did in Bamboo Paper this morning on my phone. Some curvy lady enjoying her curves..? IDK.

Week 2

Well it’s been exactly a week since I started my quest of minimalism. I kinda took a break from it this weekend since we went to Ring of Fire con in Va. Beach. I’ve found so many interesting resources so far. It’s made the process of getting rid of some things a lot easier. I wouldn’t say I am the most sentimental person, but I can still get pretty nostalgic. I am realizing the reason I hold on to some things is because I feel like I will magically forget the memory just by getting rid of the thing (which obviously isn’t true at all lol).

There is still a lot of progress to be made, but I am pretty proud of myself so far. I have two kitchen size trash bags full of stuff. One is actually trash and the other is things to donate. The clothes in my closet aren’t completely jammed together anymore and I have more space in my drawers. There are also only a few things under the bed now so I can actually see to the other side instead of before where under the bed was jam packed with stuff.

It’s really interesting to me so far. I have let go of somethings that I never really thought I would, but when I really thought about it I didn’t understand why I kept them in the first place. I wonder how far I will go with the entire process too. As of now I cannot see myself touching my video game collection, but I wonder if that feeling will change? Though, I think that most of the games in my collection now are games I really enjoy and the ones I played but wouldn’t play again have been traded in. But I do know that we have over 100 games in our collection and 9 consoles not including portables lol. I’m actually hoping that a lot of newer games from now on will have digital versions so we can just get those instead. Anyway…

Just a update for now…mostly for me, but maybe you find it interesting? :P

The quest to become a minimalist!

This is something I’ve wanted to do for a looooooong time. I stumbled upon this site yesterday. I’m pretty sure I have been there before though. I’ve always liked the idea of owning less stuff…but it’s a lot harder to put into practice! It’s important to tackle this cause I know I tend to get overwhelmed very easily…and what’s more overwhelming than a bunch of stuff that you have no idea what to do with?

I started last night with one of the post (which I can’t seem to find now) that said to pick ten things from your closet to get rid of. This actually became pretty challenging once I got to around 6 articles lol. I only got 9, but I think that is a pretty good start!

Today I’m going through my bookshelf and getting rid of things I haven’t touched/read. Basically, if I can’t remember the last time I even looked at the damn thing then it has to go!

The goal in doing all of this is to be free of all the useless things I think I need. I want to say this post has nothing to do with art, but it does. The amount of things in a day I have to sift through on my desk just to draw is exhausting to me…and by the time my desk is cleared I don’t even care to do art anymore. This is an issue obviously for someone whose living is made off their art. I’m tired of this issue having a negative impact on my art…so here we are!

Anyway…I’m kinda a huge ball of emotions today. I’m pretty motivated, excited, stressed, everything it feels like haha. I guess I just wanted to write down what I was feeling so I could come back later and see the progress I’ve made.

I’ll end this with a quote I found by searching minimalism on Tumblr:

"Minimalism is a lifestyle that helps people question what things add value to their lives." - The Minimalists

Roses are red
And true love is rare
Booty booty booty booty
Rockin’ everywhere
